Lachlan Thompson
Bachelor of Arts and Science (University of Sydney)
Masters of Arts (Journalism) (Charles Sturt University)
Bachelor of Law (Graduate Honours) (QUT)
Lachlan started his career in journalism working on regional newspapers, covering everything from court and politics to local business and sport.
Today, he still does the occasional freelance piece, with recent stories running in Australia’s largest print masthead and on the nation’s most read news-website.
In 2017 Lachlan was credited by the Queensland Clarion Awards for work on a long-term investigation - alongside a great friend and colleague. Emails from that project became evidence in a Crime and Corruption Commission hearing.
After working as a reporter Lachlan moved into digital production, using data-based analytics to help newsrooms across the country identify the stories most likely to resonate with their social media audiences and increase traffic.
While working as a journalist Lachlan retrained as a lawyer and was admitted as a solicitor and barrister by the Tasmanian Supreme Court in 2020. He then completed a stint in private practice where he worked on criminal and defamation matters.
Directly before starting his own consultancy business, Lachlan was employed by the Tasmanian Integrity Commission in research and communications management.
He offers clients a wealth of hands on-experience in communicating with the media, reviewing policies and addressing organisational crises.
Whether, you want to tell a positive story in an engaging way, need help in difficult circumstances, or need an external opinion to help chart your course, Lachlan offers extensive and diverse skills and experience.
